Braun, has been a leading provider of renal care products for many years and has experience in running its own renal care centers country wide, all featuring state-of-the-art equipment and serviced by highly professional healthcare staff.

The healthcare team treat patients who have chronic renal failure and require treatment, which is essential for their survival and quality of life. The patients receive dialysis treatment 2-3 times per week. The healthcare team work closely with Dr. P. Naidoo, a qualified nephrologist and specialist in kidney care, who oversees patient care plans and therapy, ensuring the best clinical outcome.

Dr. Naidoo has an exemplary reputation regarding the provision of excellent service to our patients. Her office is situated at Medi Clinic Vereeniging. Our healthcare team is made up of a unit manager (UM), who specialised in renal care with 10 years’ experience in renal nursing, the UM is supported by 8 qualified nurses, two of which have specialised in nephrology, and one who is a clinical technician. The healthcare team is assisted by supporting staff, which includes a unit administrator, two general assistants and a cleaner

 

What we do
The healthcare team and supporting staff at B. Braun Avitum Vereeniging Dialysis Unit provide a high standard of dialysis treatment to patients in Chronic Haemodialysis, Peritoneal Dialysis, Acute Dialysis (in-hospital treatment), Plasma Exchange, CRRT (continuous renal replacement therapy) and transplant work-up assistance.

We believe strongly in ‘Sharing Expertise’ and are constantly involved in CME’s across the province. In the current environment, we have adapted by organising CME’s using online platforms, and will continue to do so, for the benefit of all relevant stakeholders.  The Unit is actively involved in our early detection, management and prevention program called KidneyWise. Our goal is to improve patients’ lives, provide the highest quality treatment and provide adequate education for all patients so that they can play an active part in their own health. All staff are engaged in educating patients on diet restrictions, fluid restrictions and adequacy of their treatment.

Braun Avitum South Africa manufactures all their dialysis concentrates locally and comply with international standards and guidelines. We have a nephrologist who visits patients weekly to update and adjust their treatment plans. The unit is equipped with water tanks, to enable continued service despite water interruptions, as well as a backup generator, to ensures a streamlined service, should power interruptions or load shedding occur.  B. Braun Avitum is also committed to support patients, especially those who do not have the means to travel to the unit, by providing them with transport support options.
